Bitmeyen Şehir: İstanbul | Unending City: Istanbul
Hüseyin Güler & Kaan Walsh
21.10.2025 - 08.112025

offgrid art project opens up a space of exploration that focuses on Istanbul’s multilayered texture, in parallel with the 18th Istanbul Biennial’s theme, “Three-Legged Cat.” Curated by Ayşe Okudan, the exhibition titled “Unending City: Istanbul” brings together the perspectives of Hüseyin Güler and Kaan Walsh on the city. Accompanied by a series of talks, the project will be on view at offgrid art project between October 21 – November 8, 2025.
Located in the heart of Taksim, offgrid art project serves as a production and sharing space for independent artists. With its structure encouraging interdisciplinary collaborations, it invites viewers to rethink Istanbul through the dimensions of time and space.
The exhibition “Unending City: Istanbul” offers a spatial reading that questions the relationships the city establishes on various scales, through visual narratives, maps, and urban documents. In this geography, where thousands of years of settlement history have accumulated, the layers of the built environment carry not only traces of the past but also those of the present and the future. The exhibition aims to make visible the “unending” nature of Istanbul through both a photographic and research-oriented perspective.
Accompanying the exhibition, the talk series titled Urban Wanderers and Urban Scholars approach Istanbul’s urban experience—past, present, and future—through an interdisciplinary lens. All talks will be available to watch on offgrid art project’s YouTube channel.

Hüseyin Güler
Hüseyin Güler is a photographer based in Istanbul. His current photographic practice largely revolves around documentary photography and visual storytelling. His projects explore themes such as political ecology, urban sociology, migration, and human–animal interaction. After completing his degree in Mathematics Education, he graduated from the Photography Department of Mimar Sinan Fine Arts University, where he is currently pursuing his master’s degree.
Rather than presenting his projects as finalized photography series, Güler prefers to exhibit them as comprehensive archives that encompass the entire creative process. His presentations often include notes, collected objects, and maps gathered throughout his work. His projects have been featured in exhibitions such as Mamut Art Project (2021), Base (2022), and the 41st and 43rd Akbank Contemporary Artists Exhibition (2023 and 2025), as well as in photography festivals including Bursa International Photography Festival (2021), 212 Photography Istanbul (2023), and Indonesia Photography Festival (2024). He has also participated in group shows and art fairs such as Art Weeks and Contemporary Istanbul, both in Turkey and abroad. He continues to live and work in Istanbul.
Kaan Walsh
Kaan Walsh is an experimental and street photographer and mixed-media artist based between Istanbul and Izmir. After studying International Business in the UK, he continued his education in Italy with a focus on Graphic Design. His work captures fleeting moments of everyday life using experimental techniques that blur the boundaries between photography and painting. Drawing inspiration from the streets and the overlooked details of daily existence, he evokes emotions that are both deeply personal and universally resonant.
His artistic process merges analog and digital methods, embracing imperfection and layering to create a dynamic visual language. Currently based in Urla, he is developing Yutugud Studio & Guesthouse, a living, production, and sharing space for artists. Walsh held his first group exhibition in 2022 under the İmece platform at Barın Han with a video piece, followed by an intimate photography exhibition in London (2023). In 2025, he continues to take part in exhibitions in Istanbul while focusing his production in Izmir.
